Five containers, one Sunday

A meal-prep hour that survives contact with a real week — and the three recipes to run it on.

Nobody keeps up a meal prep that takes a whole afternoon. The version that lasts is one hour, one protein, five containers, and no decisions left over.

The hour

  1. Rice or gnocchi on first. Whatever needs a timer starts before anything else does.
  2. One protein, one pan. Two pounds of ground turkey, a pound and a half of chicken, or a pork loin. One. Not three.
  3. Vegetables while the protein cooks. Steam, roast, or dice raw — raw cucumber holds up better across five days than anything you cook.
  4. Five containers in a row on the counter. Build them all at once, in one pass. Building one at a time is how an hour becomes three.
  5. Cool before the lids go on. This is the step everybody skips and it is the reason day four tastes wrong.

Rotate three, not one

The reason meal prep dies in week three is repetition, not effort. Three recipes on rotation is enough that none of them wears out:

All three are Kristi's, all three make five servings, and all three keep four to five days. Two of them at once gives you ten containers and a week where lunch is not a question.

The containers matter more than you would think

Glass, oven-safe, same size, lids that actually seal. The enchilada bowls and the gnocchi both go under a broiler in the container they are stored in — which removes a whole washing-up step, and that step is where the habit usually dies.
